What is Podcasting?

57 million Americans listen to podcasts monthly and 35 million weekly. Podcasts are hot with a 30% increase in the number of listeners in 2015. But what are they? Podcasts are basically downloadable “radio” shows about any number of topics, general or very, very specific. Listeners can download them automatically to their cell phones and computers and listen whenever they want, wherever they want. This means that podcasting is a convenient, rapidly expanding, friendly, and highly targeted. Add in the ability to create hard metrics for how many times a podcast is downloaded, and you have a perfect medium for advertising.

Who Listens to Sperb’s Herbs?

Sperb’s Herbs is a new launch. That means the following demo- and psycho-graphics are preliminary. It also means this is a ground floor opportunity at minimal cost. We anticipate 1,000 downloads of each episode within 6 months of posting. We expect our demographics to be 66% female, highly educated, with household incomes of  $75,000-150,000 based on statistics from students and professionals. In addition, each listener will be highly interested in health, healthcare of their families and others, and of all things related to herbs, For the Chinese Singles and Chinese Formulas podcasts, they will also be very engaged with Chinese medicine and its variants. In other words, we expect to have a highly engaged audience, with both money  and motivation. Perfect for advertisers.

The Podcasts

There are three separate podcasts: Sperb’s Herbs, Chinese Singles; Sperb’s Herbs, Chinese Formulas; and Sperb’s Herbs, World Herbs. All are geared towards healthcare professionals and students as well as those that are interested in helping the health of their friends and family. Each episode discusses the history and traditions of each herb, it’s traditional and modern uses, and the science and pharmacology. And then there is always something a little different, be it a story about the herb, people who have used the herb, or maybe politics, science, or economics involving the herb.

Sperb’s Herbs Podcasts are designed to be listened to over and over again. Since they are information dense and are targeted towards, students, professionals, and interested individuals, they need to be listened to multiple times to learn the material.
